Deacon's Prayer:                                                                           Roger Kenner

L: We are gathered here as one community of God, united in love and compassion who offers us freedom from sins. Are we really ready to be chosen, blessed, broken and shared with others? Receive the blessings and prepare yourselves for the coming of God's new kingdom. There we shall renew our faith and witness God's loving will for us, as God is our refuge, our strength.

Call to Worship Bell     A

Processional:             "When Morning Gilds the Skies"   (LBW 546)         (stand)

When morning gilds the skies, My heart awaking cries:
May Jesus Christ be praised! When evening shadows fall,
This rings my curfew call: May Jesus Christ be praised!

When mirth for music longs, This is my song of songs:
May Jesus Christ be praised! God’s holy house of prayer
Has none that can compare With "Jesus Christ be praised!"

To him, my highest and best, I sing when love possessed:
May Jesus Christ be praised! Whatever my hands begin,
This blessing shall break in: May Jesus Christ be praised!

No lovelier antiphon In all high heaven is known
Than "Jesus Christ be praised!" There to the eternal Word
The eternal psalm is heard: Oh, Jesus Christ be praised!

Let all of humankind In this their concord find:
May Jesus Christ be praised! Let all the earth around
Ring joyous with the sound: May Jesus Christ be praised!

Sing, sun and stars of space, Sing, all who see his face,
Sing, "Jesus Christ be praised!" God’s whole creation o'er,
Today and evermore Shall Jesus Christ be praised!

                                            Greeting                                                  (sit)

Welcome:                                                                                     Pr. Samuel King-Kabu

                                                      Invocation                                            (stand)

P: God, our life sustainer, all worship and praises are yours. Grant us your Holy Spirit to shine upon us. We thank you for all the blessings you have bestowed upon us. Give us wisdom to understand things, give us courage to face all storms. Let me do good though no one sees me. Let me share my blessings though I have nothing. Let me not speak so that I can listen. Speak in the silence of my heart. Amen

                  (Silence)

Confession of Sins:                                                               (Pr. M. Nell Thomson)

L:  Let us ask forgiveness from God and our neighbours for the divisions in the church which weaken our witness to Christ.

Lord, we have sinned against you and against our neighbours.

All: Lord, have mercy.

L:  Christ, our divisions go against your will and prevent a common witness to your love.

All:  Christ, have mercy.

L:  Lord, we have not love you enough in loving our brothers and sisters, who are created in your image, even though they are different from us.

All:  Lord, have mercy.

L:  Creator of us all, you put into our hearts the longing for community with you.

Fulfil those desires, we pray. Reunite us into one family through Jesus Christ, who loves and reigns in communion with you and the Holy Spirit, for ever and ever.

All: Amen

Proclamation of the Word

First scripture reading:                                   (Elaine)  (sit)

Second scripture reading: Ezekiel 47: 1, 7-12                           Sasha (sit)

Choir Anthem:  (Wesley United)              "Wade In The Water"

Third scripture reading: John 4:5-14            (Wesley United)

Sermonette:                                                                       Pr. Samuel King-Kabu

Hymn:                    "The King of Love My Shepherd Is"             (LBW 456)

The King of love my shepherd is, Whose goodness faileth never;
I nothing lack if I am his And he is mine forever.

Where streams of living water flow, My ransomed soul he leadeth
And, where the verdant pastures grow, With food celestial feedeth.

Perverse and foolish oft I strayed, But yet in love he sought me
And on his shoulder gently laid And home rejoicing brought me.

In death’s dark vale I fear no ill  With thee, dear Lord, beside me,
Thy rod and staff my comfort still, Thy cross before to guide me.

Thou spreadst a table in my sight; Thine unction grace bestoweth;
And, oh, what transport of delight From thy pure chalice floweth!

And so, through all the length of days Thy goodness faileth never.
Good Shepherd, may I sing thy praise Within thy house forever.

Homily:                                                  (Rev. Martha Nell Thomson)    (sit)

Confession of Faith                                                              Pr. Mark Rogers  (stand)

L:  God has made us his people through our Baptism into Christ. Living together in trust and hope, we confess our faith.

C: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.

He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit

and born of the virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again.

He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church,

the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

Amen

Hymn:                    "Make Me a Channel of Your Peace"           (sit)

Make me a channel of your peace.

Where there is hatred let me be your love.

Where there is injury, your pardon, Lord.

And where there´s doubt, true faith in you.

Make me a channel of your peace.

Where there´s despair in life, let me bring hope.

Where there is darkness, only light,

and where there´s sadness ever joy.

Oh Master grand, that I may never seek,

so much to be consoled as to console,

to be understood as to understand,

to be loved as to love with all my soul.

Make me a channel of your peace.

It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

in giving of ourselves that we receive,

and in dying that we´re born to eternal life.

Sharing of the Peace:                                                         Pr. Samuel King-Kabu

L: The peace of the Lord be with you always

C:  And also with you.

(let us share the  peace with one another)

Offering             " Lord, Listen to Your Children Praying"       (WOV )

Lord, listen to Your children praying,
Lord, send Your spirit in this place;
Lord, listen to Your children praying,
Send us love, send us pow'r, send us grace!

Lord, listen to Your children praying,
Lord, send Your spirit in this place;
Lord, listen to Your children praying,
Send us love, send us pow'r, send us grace!

Offertory Prayer:                                     (Receiving of the gifts: Deacon Peter Huish)

L: Merciful Father,

C: we offer with joy and thanksgiving what you have first given us—our selves, our time, and our possessions, signs of your gracious love. Receive them for the sake of him who offered himself for us, Jesus Christ our Lord.                Amen

The Great Thanksgiving:

P: The Lord be with You

C: And also with you

P: Lift up your hearts

C: We lift them to the Lord.

P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God

C: It is right to give him thanks and praise.

P: It is indeed right and salutary that we should at all times and in all places offer thanks and praise to you, O Lord, holy Father, through Christ our Lord. Sharing our life, he lived among us to reveal your glory and love, that our darkness should give way to his own brilliant light. And so, with the Church on earth and the hosts of heaven, we praise your name and join in your unending hymn:

C: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might: Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna, Hosanna. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

P:  Holy God, mighty Lord, Gracious Father:

Endless in your mercy and eternal your reign.

You have filled all creation with light and life:

heaven and earth are full of your glory.

Through Abraham you promised to bless all nations.

You rescued Israel, your chosen people.

Through the prophets you renewed your promise;

And at this end of all the ages, you sent your Son,

who in words and deeds proclaimed your kingdom

and was obedient to your will, even to giving his life.

In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread,

And gave thanks; and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying:

Take and eat; this is my body, given for you.

Do this for the remembrance of me.      @

Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink,

saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all

people for the forgiveness of sin.

Do this in remembrance of me.

For as often as we eat of this bread and drink from this cup,

we proclaim the Lord's death, until he comes.

C:  Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.

P:  Therefore, gracious Father, with this bread and cup

we remember the life our Lord offered for us.

And, believing the witness of his resurrection, we await his coming in power

to share with us the great and promised feast.

C:  Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

P:  Send now, we pray, your Holy Spirit,

the spirit of our Lord and of his resurrection,

that we who receive the Lord's body and blood

may live the to the praise of your glory

and receive our inheritance with all your saints in light.

C:  Amen, Come, Holy Spirit.

P: Join our prayers with those of your servants of every time and every place,

and unite them with the ceaseless petitions of our great high priest

until he comes as victorious Lord of all.

Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen

Lamb of God:

Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world; have mercy on us.

Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world; have mercy on us.

Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world; grant us peace.

Distribution of Communion:       Choir:

                                                    Organ:

(Hymns to be sung during communion…LBW 224, 235,212)

Thank the Lord:

Thank the Lord and sing his praise; tell ev’ryone what he has done. Let all who seek the Lord rejoice and proudly bear his name. He recalls his promises and leads his people forth in joy with shouts of thanksgiving, Alleluia, Alleluia.

Post-Communion Prayer:

L: O God, through this bread and this cup, you have made us one with you and with each other. May the unity we find at this table be a gift that we carry out into your suffering, divided world. Help us to find strength in knowing that you, the God of peace, will always be with us.

C: Amen.

Sending Forth and Blessing

Benediction                                                                                             (stand)

P: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, the love of our Father -- God who is the I AM of Abraham, and the communion of the Holy Spirit who keeps us ever mindful of our faith, be with you all.     @

C: Amen

Recessional Hymn:      “Blest Be the Tie That Binds”      (LBW 370)      (stand)

Blest be the tie that binds Our hearts in Christian love;

The unity of heart and mind Is like to that above.

Before our Father’s throne We pour our ardent prayers;

Our fears, our hopes, our aims are one, Our comforts and our cares.

We share our mutual woes, Our mutual burdens bear,

And often for each other flows The sympathizing tear.

From sorrow, toil, and pain, And sin we shall be free;

And perfect love and friendship reign Through all eternity.
