Pastor’s Corner:

"She saw that the stone had been moved away from the tomb."
(John 20:1)

A children's Easter Play was in the stage of preparation ... The director was supervising the cast to make certain that each child would feel comfortable with his or her assigned role. One young boy was offered a speaking part, but he turned it down, saying, "I would rather play the part of the stone guarding the entrance to Jesus' tomb." The play went well and, when it was over, the director asked the boy if he had been happy with his non-speaking role. "Why did you want to play the stone?" she asked. With a big smile, the boy replied, "Because letting Jesus out of the tomb really felt good." Of all the days of the year, Easter is our number one "feel good" day. God is saying something spectacular to us in the Easter Message: God, our Creator, who made us out of His great Love, is always acting with RESURRECTION POWER to transform sorrow into joy and death into New Life. The Resurrection Power of God is telling us always and everywhere that our suffering is not without meaning; that with death comes a new beginning; that we will rise with Jesus to sing a new "Hallelujah" refrain.

This is my number one "feel good" day. I hope to share this joy with all of you.
Death truly was swallowed up in victory. So let us thank God for this victory.

The Good News is that Jesus is Risen! As we focus on the Cross of Christ in our life, may we be filled with its’ joy and peace.

Best wishes, your friend and pastor,
Pastor Samuel K King-Kabu.

A few thoughts from your editor:

THE LOW PLACE

Jesus is drawn to people at the bottom. He said, "Learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls" (Matthew 11:29-30).

His first bed was a feeding trough. He ate with prostitutes and tax collectors.

Jesus had a humble heart. We can feel Jesus with us at the bottom because He lives there with us. The closest way to feel God is when we are at the bottom and we have no choice but to become humble and not be concerned about our position, but with loving people. Mother Teresa said, "The surest way to be one with God is to accept humiliation."

When Jesus is in our lives, our Ego - the self – begins to walk away. How could a woman like Mother Teresa dedicate her life to the unwanted souls in Calcutta unless she was willing to get rid of self for the sake of love.

This past Easter I have walked with Jesus to the cross, ate a last meal with Him, put a nail in him, cried for what I did and then will see and know the victory when I see Him walk again in the Resurrection service on Sunday.

I thank my God for the power of the Low place and the humility to stay there.
